Delivery

Orders shipped outside Australia may be subject to additional duties and taxes. Additional duties and taxes are due on delivery and are your responsibility to pay. GST (10%) will be removed at checkout.

We use an eCommerce shipping system called Easyship which links up the best rates from different couriers. This gives you the best 3 options for your delivery. It'll give the cheapest, the best value and the fastest option. There are a couple things to note.

We offer free delivery on orders over $300* within Australia. For other orders a shipping rate will be calculated based on where you live. Depending on the order we may offer a discounted rate.

* Pads and Kit Bags add bulk and aren't included in our free delivery offer

We send out deliveries approximately 3 times per week.

Aus Post:

Our favourite and usually the most reliable delivery option. Australia Post will collect on the same day we pack the order, usually around 4pm so orders before then are a good chance of being shipped out. Delivery time at checkout is usually correct.

The rest:

Usually a cheaper rate and mostly reliable. These couriers will collect the day after we pack the order which adds 1 day to the delivery time listed on the website.

Custom bats

We pride ourselves on getting it right! If you receive your custom made bat and it isn't 100% perfect we will send you a label and send back the bat for free so we can make any required adjustments. Please get in touch anytime within 30 days of receiving your bat. After 30 days any adjustments will be charged.

Returns

Cricket Bats

Cricket bats are natural products. This means that there is a possibility that your JPGavan bat could break. We will always do our best to ensure durability in your bat, but wood is wood and any bat has the chance of having it's issues. Cricket bats can break for numerous reasons in numerous ways. Please follow our bat care guide to minimise the chance of this happening. Most of the time the bat can be fixed. We will not consider warranty for JPGavan products if they have:

1. Been damaged as a result of regular wear and tear

2. Been wrongly used or neglected or that have been repaired or modified without being certified by JPGavan

3. Become damaged through bad shots or have failed as a result of poor preparation and care. Most cricket brands don't cover damage to yorkers but we will cover damage which is the fault of the bat.

4. Had stickers removed.

5. Been made over 12 months ago. This includes if the bat has had none or minimal use. Cricket bats are made of natural materials that still need to be looked after without use.

Repair or Replacement?

If a warranty claim is able to be repaired we will fix it up as quick as possible. If it is not repairable we will replace the bat. If a bat is repaired under warranty and the previous issue reoccurs we will automatically replace the bat. Wear and tear is normal on cricket bats and minor cracking may need to be maintained by the owner. All warranty claims will be thoroughly checked and considered by Josh Gavan at JPGavan and decisions will be made on a case by case basis at our sole discretion.

All warranty claims on bats purchased from JPGavan made within 12 months of purchase will be repaired for free if required. We will cover shipping within Australia. If the bat cannot be repaired a replacement of the same value will be issued, upgrades and changes are not available in warranty cases. Replacement bats are under warranty for the same period of 12 months from the original purchase, not from the date of issuing the replacement. If the bat is replaced within the last three months of the warranty period a period of three months will be added to the warranty starting from the date the new bat is issued.

Inaccurate play: If a false shot is played which makes damage to the sides, back, shoulders, toe or other areas of the bat, warranty will not be granted. This includes damage from carrying in bags, banging on the ground etc. JPGavan's decision is final on inaccurate play warranty claims.

In general cricket bats will be repaired at least once before a replacement or credit is given.

NO STICKERS, NO WARRANTY. If you request a JPGavan bat without JPGavan stickers it will not come with a warranty. If stickers are removed from a JPGavan bat warranty will be void. No exceptions.

Pads, gloves, bags and others

Soft gear (pads, gloves ect) will be replaced if there is a manufacturing fault within 3 months of purchase. General wear and tear is not covered. This is totally at the discretion of JPGavan.

General

If anything happens to your JPGavan product please email us with photos before taking any action. The product must be returned to JPGavan in Sydney for assessment. If the product is unrepairable, the product can be returned for a replacement or store credit.

Please note: Cricket is a dangerous sport. All products are made for normal play or training assistance and therefore JPGavan cannot be held responsible for personal or third party injury. Please make sure the product is the right size for the user and the protection level is correct for the respective playing level.

I started JPGavan Cricket when I as 16 in 2012. Since then we have served all cricketers from junior players to international stars. I am a cricketer and aim to provide the equipment cricketers want and deserve.

I have been hand making cricket bats here in Sydney, Australia for over 10 years and offer a way to order your custom bat online or come into our workshop and watch it being made. Our goal is to make a bat that is ideal for you, your game and the conditions you play in. I want you to score as many runs as possible with the most perfect cricket bat. Here is a bit of advice on how to pick you custom bat specs:

Weight:

Your final bat weight measured in pounds and ounces or grams. Usually this is based on your level of strength and ability to play all your shots.

Male:

For male senior bats the usual weights are between 2lb 7oz-2lb 10oz with anything less considered light and anything more considered on the heavier side. Anything over 2lb 12oz is considered very heavy and needs a high strength level to use.

Female:

Female cricketers consider something between 2lb 4oz-2lb 7oz the ideal weight but I have to make some sacrifices in getting the weight that low without losing too much power. I can reduce the width of the blade slightly and/or drop the shoulders of the blade to help with weight and moving that wood behind where you'll be hitting the ball. It can be difficult to find the perfect bat like this in stores.

Sticker colour:

Personal preference.

Bat shape:

The shape of the back of your bat. Concaving is a curve made between the edge and spine that helps to reduce weight whilst keeping the middle and edges as big as possible while full shapes are flat between edge and spine and are more forgiving for off-centre hits. Semi concave is a more slight curve than a full concave. Keep in mind when I'm making your bat I'll have to get the wood off from somewhere to get it to your ideal profile, so keeping a full shaped bat light means reducing the overall thickness.

Edge size:

This will be the thickness I made the edge of your bat. My recommendation here is to select what you feel confident with in your bat. Some batters will want really big edges that make the bat forgiving, but it does add weight to have a thicker edge, so it's worth being realistic in making your perfect bat.

Handle shape:

Handle customisation is a favourite of most of my clients. I can make bats with oval or round shapes being thick or thin or anything in between. It is totally personal preference. I tend to recommend something you're used to and comfortable with unless it's not working. The top hand will always be round, the bottom hand is what I customise.

Benefits:

Round - allows you to manoeuvre your hands around the bat for different bowlers. Good for bottom hand dominant players

Oval - allows for a lighter bottom hand grip and helps the bat not twist in the hands as much if a ball strikes slightly off centre.

Semi Oval - best of both worlds and usually the most popular.

Handle thickness:

Thickness is usually based on how big your hands are. If you have smaller hands I'll make the handle a bit thinner, and thicker for bigger hands.

Sweetspot position:

The sweetspot is the thickest part of the back of your bat giving that area the best performance. It's related to where you hit the ball on the bat when you are looking to score. Low middles benefit playing down the ground on lower bouncing pitches while high middles suit square of the wicket or back foot players on good quality turf or synthetic pitches. There is room in the middle for all different types of players if you feel you play all round the ground (mid) or just lean more toward one shot range but want something for a bit of everything (mid-high or mid-low).

Facing:

Clear or fibre face placed on your bat. This is always recommended to help prolong the life of your bat. Fibre not available to send separately.

Grip:

1 grip or extra grips if you prefer a thicker handle.

Knocking in:

Knocking in is required on all cricket bats. You can either spend the time yourself to look after it or let me look after it for you. This takes 7-10 days to complete.

Other instructions:

This is your chance to add anything else you have in mind for your bat. Any special requests. If we have discussed your bat and it's not included on these specs please remind me here as I'll only have these specs in front of me when I make your bat. You can also add preferences like bow and toe protection and toe shape here. We're here to make the bat of your dreams - so let us know. Our standard toe is a round shape. We can do semi round and square toes but don't guarantee them under warranty as it's more likely to be the cause of toe damage.
