Custom made cricket bats, handcrafted in Sydney.
Pick your willow, then everything else. Design your custom bat online, or watch it made in front of you at JPG HQ. Handcrafted in Sydney since 2012.
Built by a cricketer, for cricketers.
I started JPGavan Cricket when I was 16, in 2012, driven by a passion for the game and a belief that cricketers deserved a more personal bat-making experience.
Every JPGavan bat is still handcrafted here in Sydney by our small team. I personally run every in-person workshop session at JPG HQ, so if you visit, you're working with me directly. Online custom orders are handcrafted with the same care by our team of bat makers, trained by me to the same exacting standard.
We love working with cricketers of every level, from juniors to internationals, to find and make the bat that's right for them. Every bat is shaped, checked and finished by hand.

Bat size guide
Choosing the right bat size is the first step to finding a bat you'll enjoy using. As a general guide:
| Height | Size | Blade length |
|---|---|---|
| Under 145cm | Size 4 | 745mm |
| 145–150cm | Size 5 | 770mm |
| 150–165cm | Size 6 | 790mm |
| 165–173cm | Harrow | 805mm |
| 170–180cm | Small Mens (SM) | 835mm |
| 175–183cm | Short Blade (SB) | 840mm |
| 173–188cm | Short Handle (SH) | 850mm |
| Over 188cm | Long Blade (LB) | 865mm |
| Over 195cm | Long Blade+ / Long Handle (LB+ / LH) | 880mm |
Most adult players use a Short Handle (SH). Short Blade (SB) is a great option for players who want a slightly shorter bat without moving to a Small Mens. Taller players often prefer a Long Blade (LB), while shorter adults, teenagers and many female players may find a Small Mens (SM) more comfortable.
Weight guide
Most adult bats sit between 2lb 7oz and 2lb 10oz. The right weight balances power with control, you should be able to play every shot at full pace without it feeling like hard work.
- Male: 2lb 7oz to 2lb 10oz is standard. 2lb 12oz and up is on the heavier side and needs real strength to use well, though it suits some big-hitting players who want extra power
- Female: 2lb 4oz to 2lb 7oz is typically ideal
- Too heavy: harder to play shots quickly, tires you out over a long innings
- Too light: can lack the power to put shots away
