JPGavan is a cricket bat maker in Rydalmere, Sydney. Every custom bat we sell is pressed, shaped and balanced by hand at our workshop at 8 Brodie Street, about 5 minutes from Cricket Central. We have been making bats under the JPGavan name since 2012, and JPG HQ has been our Sydney home since 2024.

Most cricket bats sold in Australia are made overseas and stickered locally. Ours are not. You pick the willow, we shape the bat around your game, and you can stand at the bench and watch it happen.

Monday to Wednesday 9am to 5:30pm, Thursday 9am to 7pm, Friday 9am to 5:30pm, Saturday 9am to 1pm. Closed Sunday.

You do not need an appointment to visit. Walk in during opening hours to browse bats and gear or drop off a repair. Booking is only needed if you want to watch your bat being made.

We are a short drive from Parramatta, Ermington, Dundas, Telopea, Carlingford, Silverwater and Sydney Olympic Park, with free street parking and a free car park on site.

Watch your bat being made in Sydney

Book a bat-making session and your bat is shaped in front of you at the bench in about 90 minutes. You hand-pick your own cleft from the racks, have your say on profile, edges and pickup, and walk out with the finished bat the same day. A $50 deposit books the session and comes off the price of your bat.

The custom range

Choose your willow grade, then weight, shape, sweet spot position, handle and grip. Every bat is made to those specs by hand in Sydney.

• Performance — Grade 3 English willow, $499. The smartest way into a genuine handmade bat.
• Test — Grade 2, $699. Graded down on looks only, often denser and hard-wearing.
• Limited Edition — Grade 1, $999. Six to nine clean straight grains, plays in fast.
• Professional Plus — Grade 1+, $1,299. Ten or more straight grains on a clean white face.
• Featherblade — Players grade, $1,749. Ultra-low density: a bigger profile at a lighter weight.

Also made custom: the JPG Torpedo, our biggest-middle shape, available in every grade.

Cricket bat repairs in Sydney

The same bench that makes bats fixes them. We repair, refurbish, rehandle, reshape and knock in cricket bats, ours and every other brand. Most repairs take 4 to 5 working days. Bring it in Monday and we will do everything possible to have it ready before the weekend.
