Two ways to get a JPGavan bat
Every JPGavan bat is handmade in our Sydney workshop, but there are two different ways to get one into your hands: build a custom bat from scratch, or choose a pre-made bat that's already finished and ready to go. Neither option is "better". They suit different priorities.
Custom bats: built around you
A custom bat starts with a conversation, either online through our custom cricket bat builder or in person at our workshop. You choose the willow grade, weight, pickup, shape, sweet spot position, handle shape and thickness, grip, stickers, and finish.
Choose custom if:
- You know (or want help figuring out) exactly what weight, pickup and profile suits your game.
- You want to watch your bat being made: you can book a workshop session and see it happen in front of you.
- You're particular about handle feel, grip, or finish details.
- You don't mind a short wait while your bat is handcrafted to spec.
Custom bats start from $499 for our Performance (Grade 3) range, up to $1,749 for Featherblade (Players Grade). See our willow grading guide if you're not sure which grade to pick.
Pre-made bats: ready today
Our pre-made range is made up of bats we've already handcrafted in the Sydney workshop, each listed individually with its own weight, grain count, sweet spot and handle shape. Because every bat is unique, what you see is exactly what you get. No waiting, no guessing.
Choose pre-made if:
- You need a bat quickly, for an upcoming match or season.
- You're happy to pick from the specs currently in stock rather than specifying every detail yourself.
- You want the option to come in, pick it up, and feel the pickup in person before buying.

A good rule of thumb: if you know your ideal weight and pickup, or you want the experience of watching your bat made, go custom. If you need a bat now and are happy to choose from what's ready, go pre-made. Either way, every JPGavan bat is handmade in Sydney and comes with our full warranty.
